Southern Belladonna

My first summer in Savannah ( with its brutal, unrelenting heat and humidity ),face flushed with sweat and hair an untamed mass of frizz, I remember thinking to myself, "I'm never going to look pretty again ".

I was, therefore, understandably impressed by the calibre of women I encountered here.

Polished and charming, not only did they manage to weather the elements but, more importantly, they got things done!

No messing with them.

Nonplussed by Nature, they even seemed, like some modern-day goddesses, to have dominion over it.

As journalist Cintra Wilson expressed, " I have always thought of Southern belles as a lethally-disciplined taskforce of femininity".

Or, to use a more succinct colloquialism, " Powder puff in a Mack truck "
