CREPUSCULUM
When I first saw Wormsloe I was in awe.
Beyond the imposing stone gateposts, the mile and a half avenue of oak trees formed the most magical tunnel…a shaft of light through a gap in the canopy illuminating the way.
Like a fairytale, something mythical.
I added a coral pink Flamingo to the image I took that day. A surreal contrast of color…and creature.
Then I thought to myself, “ this entire little city is somewhat magical. What if the animals took over. Maybe at twilight…the Crepsuculum of the day “.
Some of the more involved images took 40 hours to create….to make one believe they could really be afoot in Savannah.
Every work of art needs a title so I created whimsical zoological names for my animals-about-town.( although the name for the rhinoceros at the corner of Jones and Barnard didn’t need any elaboration…the real latin name for a rhino is Rhinoceros Unicornus, which sounded mythical enough for me! )
